After studying Fine Art Photography at UCCA Farnham, Mars Washington began his creative journey in London, building a distinguished career as a 1st photographic assistant, camera assistant (AC), spark, and lighting director before graduating to become a Director of Photography and Photographer.

Mars has collaborated with many of the world’s leading photographers, filmmakers, fashion brands, and production houses.

Notably, he spent seven years working closely with Jason Bell, and has also worked extensively with creatives such as Lorenzo Agius, Luigi & Iango, Emma Tempest, Sarah Dunn, Jermaine Francis, Ralph Mecke, Alexander Leese, Harley Weir, and Charlie Gray, among many others. This diverse, high-level experience has sharpened his expertise in lighting design, visual storytelling, and cross-disciplinary production across both photography and film.

Mars brings a rare blend of artistic vision and technical command, enabling him to lead large-scale productions, adapt quickly under pressure, and meet the complex creative and logistical demands of commercial, editorial, and narrative work. His vast experience working in high end Photographic and film productions means he is well placed to translate Photography briefs to moving image, making Stills campaigns come alive with a consistent moving image output.

He regularly partners with other Directors and Photographers and maintains an ongoing creative collaboration with filmmaker and editor Jack Satchell, together forming the visual duo Jack&Mars.
